Public defender background. Jury trial experience.

As a former public defender, Asya represented individuals facing criminal prosecution and gained valuable experience litigating cases before judges and juries. Her jury trial experience has equipped her with the ability to develop effective defense strategies, challenge the prosecution’s evidence, conduct cross-examinations, and advocate for her clients in the courtroom.

She approaches every case with thorough preparation, attention to detail, and a commitment to protecting her clients’ constitutional rights.

The firm handles cases throughout California, in all counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino. Its physical office remains in Sherman Oaks.

Trial and appellate perspective

In addition to her trial practice, Asya handles criminal appeals, writs of habeas corpus, and post-conviction matters, including motions to vacate convictions based on adverse immigration consequences. Her experience as both a trial and appellate attorney provides her with a distinct perspective, allowing her to evaluate cases from multiple angles, identify legal errors, and develop persuasive arguments in pursuit of meaningful relief.

How Asya approaches a case

Whether defending a client before a jury or challenging a conviction on appeal, Asya is committed to providing strategic, diligent, and personalized representation. She understands the profound impact criminal proceedings can have on individuals and their families and believes every client deserves a strong, dedicated advocate at every stage of the criminal justice process.

From there the work is methodical: read the reports line by line, request the evidence, look at how it was gathered, and identify where the prosecution’s case is strong and where it is not. You will hear that assessment honestly, including the parts that are difficult to hear.

  • Direct: you speak with your attorney, not an intake center.
  • Discreet: every conversation is treated as confidential.
  • Candid: honest assessments instead of promises.
  • Prepared: decisions are based on the evidence, not on assumptions.

What working with the office looks like

  1. Clear communication. You will know what is scheduled, what each hearing is for, and what is expected of you before you walk into court.
  2. Realistic options. Possible paths, from challenging evidence to negotiating with the prosecution to trial, are explained along with their trade-offs.
  3. Your decision. Important choices, such as whether to accept an offer, are yours. Your attorney’s job is to make sure you make them fully informed.
